What would most gallerists around the world do if they didn’t own their own gallery? What if they had decided to become photographers instead? Hasted Kraeutler asked that question and is now hosting an exhibit entited ‘Don’t Quit Your Day Job,’ a lighthearted trip to the ‘what might have been’ for a select group of gallery owners. The exhibit is equally a celebration of the gallery owners’ careers, and contributions to contemporary art and photography, highlighting the origins in creating photography and art that led them to own galleries in the first place.
While some of the gallerists’ photographs are on loan, most are for sale. The proceeds of those sales will be donated to Lotus House Women’s Shelter, located in one of Miami’s poorest neighborhoods. Photographers include; Deborah Bell, Kim Bourus, Brian Clamp, David Fahey, Zach Feuer, Michael Foley, Jeffrey Fraenkel, Jessica Fredericks, Sarah Hasted, Steven Kasher, Alan Klotz, Joseph Kraeutler, Peter MacGill, Laurence Miller, Robert Mann, Janet Russek, Jack Shainman, Rose Shoshana, and Sasha Wolf.Hasted Kraeutler, 537 West 24th Street, New York
