The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Arts Commission approved $4.1 million in grants to non-profit art organizations. Among the 184 grant recipients was The Art of Elysium, an organization that provides artists workshops to children battling serious medical conditions. Last year volunteer artists gave their time and talent, and reached out to over 34,000 children with workshops in photography, arts, acting, music, comedy, movie making, fashion, radio, plays, creative writing, and songwriting.
The $46,000 County arts grant will be spread over two years to help pay for Elysium Industry, The Art of Elysium Theater and Media Arts Program. With the help of industry professionals, children are given the opportunity to learn the essentials of filmmaking, improv, acting, writing, joke-telling, playwriting, stage makeup, costume design, and prop making.
